About H.E.L.M.

The student-run and edited Harker Eclectic Literary Magazine (HELM) is an annual showcase of student and faculty artistic endeavors. The magazine encompasses everything from poetry to photography, allowing a motley of different art forms to coalesce and complement each other in one work.
Submissions are not limited to a specific category and there are no prerequisites to submitting. The magazine accepts and prints poetry, prose, songs, short stories, fiction, memories, essays (of any language), photography, and artwork. Although not all submissions are ultimately published, the magazine strives to incorporate the perspectives of all members of the community.
Beginning in late January, the staff and members of HELM read all submissions and choose specific pieces for publication. The magazine is edited and organized by the design team and editing staff, and copies are then sent out for publication around April.
HELM is a member of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
